There are eight limbs in the path of yoga. The first limb is the yamas or moral codes which we can implement for rightful living. The first yama, ahimsa, means non-harming/non-violence in thoughts, words and deeds. Ahimsa is the theme of this live class. Before our physical practice, I share my own personal thoughts about how we can practice ahimsa both on and off the mat. Then, we flow together.
This is an all levels class, meaning it is accessible to everyone, no matter if it’s your first or fiftieth time on the mat. However, all levels does not mean it won’t be challenging. This class will challenge you. You will feel something. If we don’t challenge ourselves, we don’t invite opportunities for growth. That said, go at your own pace. Take care of yourself. Remember that you are your own best teacher. Rest in child’s pose when you need it. Towel off when you need it. And most importantly, stay with your breath. The breath is the essence of our yoga practice. If we aren’t breathing, we aren’t practicing yoga.
Be sure to have your props that you like to use at home before you begin as well: blocks, straps, etc.
