Welcome to Day 7 of my "Quarantine Quickie" Yoga Challenge. It's time to breathe.
For the last 6 days, we moved. Some movement was intense. Some, gentle. Now, it's time to do what is most challenging for many. It's time to sit still and just breathe. Time to focus on the breath. In a society that is accustomed to doing, checking things off to-do lists and efforting, we often forget that at the end of the day, we are all human beings. And all we need to do now, is just be. We are facing an unprecedented time in the world right now. One of my clients called this season a "universal pause" and I love that description so much. We are facing a time where we are urged to not go outside, to keep our distance from others...to stay inside. Might this staying inside be a divine appointment to "go inward" as well? Our physical practice has prepared us for this very moment. The goal of performing yoga poses is to essentially prepare the body to sit comfortably in meditation. And so, today we sit. We sit and we focus on the only thing that keeps us grounded in the present moment....the breath.
The "Quarantine Quickie" Yoga Challenge is a 7-day challenge that targets a single focus area each day. For just 10 minutes each day, we'll do a series of movements to benefit that area. The challenge is designed to get you out of your head and into your body swiftly (hence the word, "quickie") and then on with your day. But most importantly, the goal and hope of this challenge is for you to experience the true benefits of a yoga practice during a time in the world when we definitely need it most. We don't need to do a whole lot each day to benefit from yoga and take care of ourselves mentally, physically and spiritually. Some days, 10 minutes is all you have. And I'm here to show you, that is enough.
When you finish each day, please leave a comment under the video so that I know you have completed the day's challenge!
