Welcome to Day 6 of my "Quarantine Quickie" Yoga Challenge. Heart day!
Heart opening poses encourage us to be vulnerable. Similar to the hips, we also store emotions in the chest area. When we do movements that are designed to open up this part of our body, we can begin to release feelings like anger, sadness or grief. Heart openers also help us develop compassion for ourselves and others, when we are feeling closed off. Similarly, if you've recently experienced heartbreak, these poses can aid in helping you heal and inspire you to continue to stay open. On the physical level, heart openers help keep the spine healthy, improves posture, expands the rib cage which allows fresh blood to flow throughout and helps you breathe better.
The "Quarantine Quickie" Yoga Challenge is a 7-day challenge that targets a single focus area each day. For just 10 minutes each day, we'll do a series of movements to benefit that area. The challenge is designed to get you out of your head and into your body swiftly (hence the word, "quickie") and then on with your day. But most importantly, the goal and hope of this challenge is for you to experience the true benefits of a yoga practice during a time in the world when we definitely need it most. We don't need to do a whole lot each day to benefit from yoga and take care of ourselves mentally, physically and spiritually. Some days, 10 minutes is all you have. And I'm here to show you, that is enough.
When you finish each day, please leave a comment under the video so that I know you have completed the day's challenge!
