It's time to give those hamstrings your undivided attention and show them some love. In yin yoga, poses are held for longer periods of time: targeting the deepest layers of the connective tissues, bones, joints, fascia, etc. This stillness not only improves our flexibility, but it also invites us to connect more deeply with our body and our breath. While vigorous movement is nice and needed, yin yoga balances out our yoga practice. Not all poses in yin are meant to be comfortable. This is the beautiful part of the practice: using those uncomfortable moments to sink deeper in our breath, fully let go, and allow the body to gradually open up. Stillness can also bring up a range of emotions. So, although those hammies might be screaming at you, let's send them some love back in return. I invite you to allow yourself to feel it all without judgement. We can only release and heal the things that we allow ourselves to feel.
Be sure to have your favorite props on hand for this practice: blocks, straps, etc.
