Meditation: Allowing Yourself to Feel

Society often tells us that experiencing anything other than happy emotions is unfavorable. This results in many people feeling alone, ashamed and embarrassed when feelings such as grief, sadness or anger not only come up, but lingers for a moment in time. This is no way to live. As humans, we are supposed to experience a full spectrum of emotions, even the unwanted ones. Even the ones we have described as "negative". In this meditation, we explore what it feels like to allow ourselves to totally feel whatever it is that we are feeling, and most importantly, to remember that it is totally okay. We must remember that we are human beings and invite these emotions in: allowing ourselves to sit with them. The only way out is through. We must get curious about our emotions. We must invite them in, so that we can get the lesson, heal and move forward in a healthy way.
You'll want to have a block or cushion for this one so that you can prop yourself up. Meditation is best when you are as comfy as possible in an upright, seated position. Ideally, your knees will fall below your hips so that you can fully relax and let go of any clenching in the body.
